It's funny how a little thing like getting a job can make you suddenly busy. And it's not just trying to squeeze an extra 40 hours into the week, either. I was doing NOTHING before I got my job and now it seems like I am always going. Here's the list of stuff going on...
Retreat: Heading for Oct 7 with all engines firing and full speed ahead! My team is great! We're averaging a meeting every two weeks.
Weekenders: We (some of us ladies) started gathering every other Friday (it was going to be every Friday, but we think that's too much!) for food, chat, games, whatever. I'm going to set up a calendar that people can see to let you know when we're meeting.
Women's Ministry Team: I'm on the team this year at church. Helping our ladies grow in God. Another wonderful team! Another once a month meeting.
Book Club: Starting a small Bible Study/Book Club with 4 other ladies. Very small and intimate, wanting to really support and be accountable to each other. We're smart enough to wait until after retreat to start this one, but the book we're reading first should be AMAZING: "Made to Crave" by Lisa Ter Keurst. We'll probably meet once or twice a month.
Condo Board: Yes, I'm still on the condo board. This is my last year and, you guessed it! I'm the president of the Assciation. Not that that means anything more than that I have the title... :) But we meet once a month or more and deal with association business.
Prayer Shawl Ministry: Still heading up this fabulous ministry. We're meeting tomorrow for the first time after summer break. It's so nice to sit and chat and pray and knit or crochet together. And the people we give the shawls/blankets to have been so grateful! It's wonderful to be touching lives with our prayers. We meet the first and third Saturdays of the month.
Choir: I know! I'm so excited about choir, I can't even tell you! We practice the first three Mondays of each month. The really cool thing about this choir is that the director teaches us about how things work and why and explains what's going on and why he's having us do certain things. He explains how our lungs and diaphragm work and why the sounds we are making sound the way they do. It's an incredible experience! Will let you know about performances!
The Commute: I've had to start leaving for work at 6:45 because I can't guarantee I'll get there on time if I leave any later. I get to work early, but if I left that much later, I wouldn't make it on time. Go figure. So I leave at 6:45 and get home at 6:15. If I wanted to get enough sleep each night, I'd go to bed at 9:15. Somehow I just can't make myself go to bed after only 3 hours at home.
Work: Absolutely wonderful! I'll let you know if they decide to hire me permanently!
Life: This weekend is busy. Ken's birthday was today, and Ken and Nicole's wedding reception is tomorrow. This one is mostly for all the friends and family that were not able to be invited to the wedding, but some of those who were at the wedding will be coming too. It should be fun!
Sunday Josh and Beth and the boys are going to come over and help me with some stuff around this place. Trying to get ready for the eventuality of room mates. I'm praying for - and you can join me in this prayer - two female, Christian room mates who will abide by my no-smoking, no partying, and no man-staying-over rules. That's not too much to ask, is it?
Okay, bedtime for me now. Talk to you again soon...unless I get too busy! :)
